The Intersections Interview Process

Thank you for your interest in being interviewed for the Intersections project! Here is the process we use to screen, interview, and publicize our participants.

The first thing to understand is that you are in control of this process from beginning to end. If at any point you want to stop or alter what you’ve agreed to do, we can adjust as much as possible. This is your story, after all!

To start the process, complete the Consent Form and Questionnaire. This can be completed online, or you can download and print the form, then email, fax, or mail the completed form.

  • Complete form online
  • Download form. Once completed, submit it via:
    • Fax to (206) 888-4093
    • Mail it to:
      Intersections Project
      LGBT Center
      Baker Center 354
      Ohio University
      Athens OH 45701-2979
    • Scan and email it to

Once we receive your form, we will arrange a time and place to meet. This can be a virtual location, (Google Hangout is preferred, but we can work with other software if needed), or a physical location. When we meet, the interviewer will go over your consent form and make sure there are no questions and check if anything has changed, then we will set up the recording equipment and begin the interview.

During the interview, we will ask you to define your identities, and we will discuss your perspectives and experiences. Nothing will be predefined, and you – as the expert on yourself – will get to explain what your identity means to you.

Once the interview is complete, we’ll review and see if there’s anything that needs to be done. Once that’s done, we’ll edit the recording and publish it in the format you’ve consented to. The posting will be made available to you privately for 24 hours. After that, our Patreon supporters will have 24 hours’ early access, and then the link will be made public.

And that’s it! If you have any questions about this process, don’t hesitate to contact us.
